The Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve is one of the most fascinating destinations in the Ecuadorian Amazon. To reach the Cuyabeno Bridge, the official meeting point, there are several transportation options that suit different needs, schedules, and budgets.

Getting to Cuyabeno National Park

Option 1: Shared Shuttle Quito – Cuyabeno Bridge

Price: USD 37 per person (USD 74 round trip)

This shuttle service is the most convenient way for travelers who want a direct and comfortable journey. Departures are at night on fixed days of the week from different points in Quito:

  • Hostal La Guayunga – 11:30 pm
  • Mariscal (Blue House Hostel) – 11:00 pm
  • Secret Garden Quito – 11:30 pm

Final destination: Cuyabeno Bridge

Getting to Cuyabeno National Park

Important:

  • No transfers on Tuesdays & Fridays from Blue House.
  • No transfers on Tuesdays & Saturdays from La Guayunga / Secret Garden.
  • No transfers on Wednesdays & Saturdays from Cuyabeno Bridge to Quito.

 

The shuttle is not operated directly by the lodge; however, we assist travelers in booking tickets and confirming availability.

 

Return to Quito

The bus arrives at Blue House Hostel (Mariscal Foch & Av. Leonidas Plaza), but it can also stop at Hotel Magic Paradise (Av. Puerto Aguarico) or in Quito’s Historic Center. Keep in mind that you may need to take a taxi to your accommodation upon arrival.

 

Option 2: By Air

Getting to Cuyabeno National Park

With over 10 years of experience, Adventure Air offers direct flights between Quito and Lago Agrio. Flight time is approximately 55 minutes.

Option 3: By Bus from Quito

Duration: 8 hours

Departure: Quitumbe Terminal (South Quito)

Price: USD 14

There are several night buses, perfect to optimize your time. Private bus services also operate from Quito’s Mariscal area — more expensive, but with greater comfort and safety.

Last departure: 11:45 pm

Getting to Cuyabeno National Park 

From Baños

Duration: 8–9 hours

Departure: 10:45 pm from Baños bus terminal

Recommended company: Transportes Baños

Price: USD 17

 

Night buses are highly recommended to arrive rested in Lago Agrio and continue towards Cuyabeno Bridge.

 

From Guayaquil

Currently, there are no direct flights to Lago Agrio.

Direct bus: Transportes Baños operates the Guayaquil – Lago Agrio route.

Alternative: Take a bus to Quito, then continue by bus to Lago Agrio (8 hours more).

Private buses from Quito are also available for travelers seeking more comfort.

 

From El Coca

If you cannot get a direct bus to Lago Agrio, another option is to travel first to Coca (7–8 hours from Quito).

From Coca, take another bus to Lago Agrio (1h45).

Important Note

Green Forest EcoLodge provides useful guidance on how to reach Lago Agrio and Cuyabeno Bridge. However, passengers are responsible for arriving on the scheduled day and time to start the tour. Delays or changes caused by transport companies are beyond the lodge’s responsibility.

How to Get to Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve?

From Quito to the Cuyabeno Bridge (Meeting point)
Private Shuttle (30 USD one-way or 60 USD roundtrip per person)

Departure from Mariscal area at Blue House Hostel (Joaquin Pinto E8-24 y Diego de Almagro) at 10:50pm.

*Return to Quito: The drop off is at (Jóse de Antepara y Rios, in the Old Town or at Veintimilla and Juan León Mer), in La Mariscal.

*So please keep in mind that you might have to take a taxi to your accommodation after arriving in Quito.
